The Saskatchewan Advantage

Aboriginal Employment Development partnerships and the Representative Workforce Strategy evolved as a result of key principles; collaboration and open communication. This innovative strategy combines a business case approach with community development and change management. It is a sustainable and focused approach to First Nations and Métis employment and economic development.

FNMR works in partnership with public sector and private industry employers, unions, First Nations and Métis communities, K-12 school boards, post-secondary institutes and government agencies to prepare the workplace and workforce to remove potential barriers to the employment of Aboriginal people throughout the province.

These statistics show the number of Aboriginal people hired, the number of employees who participated in Aboriginal awareness training, and the number of employees who received on-site skills training related to their employment.

PARWC was formally established in February 2000. PAWRC provides a venue for AED partners to dialogue, identify and address Aboriginal labour market supply and demand readiness issues. PARWC is co-chaired by FNMR and the Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour.
