Gaming Trusts and Grants First Nations TrustThe Government of Saskatchewan and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations negotiated the 2002 Gaming Framework Agreement, which established the First Nations Trust. Saskatchewan First Nations and Métis Relations ensures the Trust receives 50% of the the profits generated by the on-reserve casinos operated by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) and 25% of the profits generated by the casinos located in Moose Jaw and Regina that are operated by the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation. In turn, the Trust distributes funding to all First Nations in the province based on population statistics with the requirement that those monies be spent by the First Nations in one or more of the following areas: economic development, social development, justice, educational development, recreational facilities operation and development, senior and youth programs, cultural development, community infrastructure development and maintenance, health initiatives, and other charitable purposes.
