Saskatchewan First Nations and Métis Economic Development Program
Aboriginal Employment Development Program
Did You Know?

In Saskatchewan, the per cent of the population identifying themselves as Aboriginal continues to increase, a trend reflected across the country. Aboriginal people comprised 14.9 per cent of the total population of Saskatchewan in 2006.

Under the First Nations and Metis Women’s Initiative, First Nations and Métis Relations enables provincial Aboriginal women's organizations to undertake special projects and policy development activities of benefit to their respective memberships.

First Nations and Métis Relations works with the Saskatchewan First Nations Women's Commission and the Saskatchewan Aboriginal Women's Circle Corporation to administer the initiative.

Funding for provincial organizations enables First Nations and Métis women to address priority issues such as family violence, child abuse, health care, education, housing, justice, and social development.
